Correspondence and business papers of Mrs. Jeffreys and members of her family. The earlier papers concern the guardianship of the six orphan children of James and Winifred Newsome. The bulk of the collection from 1851 relates to Mrs. Jeffreys' guardianship of her daughter, Alvarado Ovando Jeffreys, and includes lists of expenses and allocation of assets. Most of the post-Civil War papers pertain to farming in North Carolina. Correspondents include M.D. Leggett and Sion H. Rogers.
